Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his maiden trophy for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has experienced a torrid period, winning just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in particular - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with former coach Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court since that period of that year.

Success also means the Russian has won twenty-one titles at 21 distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters at once, so to get a title is really nice," commented ranked player the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's retrieving strategy and recurring emotional displays on court had led some to doubt if his ability to play at the top level was over.

But the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and play aggressively, supported by an better serve.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, securing four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden professional victory, took control to force a final set.

Moutet defended 4 early opportunities in a tight deciding set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, he secured victory with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman unable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
